‘No confirmation on Iran-P5+1 talks venue’ - Gayo Lues
Turkish media quoted the country’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying on Sunday that he would make a relevant announcement should he receive such confirmation from either Tehran or Western governments.
“There is no confirmed information at the moment,” said Erdogan, who is on a visit to China.
Iran and the P5+1 — Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States plus Germany — have held two rounds of multifaceted talks, one in Geneva, Switzerland in December 2010 and another in Istanbul in January 2011.
They are scheduled to resume their talks on April 13. However, the venue for the negotiations is yet to be announced.
The United States, Israel, and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program and have used this pretext to impose unilateral and international sanctions against the country.
Iran has refuted the allegations, arguing that, as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it is entitled to the peaceful use of nuclear technology.
