Bolivian police clashed with protesters on the second day of a three-day strike against the government’s plan to increase health workers and doctors’ working time by two hours.
Striking Bolivian workers and university students marched in the city center of the capital La Paz on Thursday to show their opposition to the plan.
The protests came after Bolivia’s labor union, the Central Obrera boliviana, called for three days of strike after rejecting the government’s eight-percent-mandated wage increase.
The anger over working hours also spread to other cities, as mine workers in El Alto also staged a demonstration against the recent plan.
Protesters also held similar demonstrations in the capital last week, calling for the resignation of the country’s health minister who brought in the new law.
