Eleven different FC Barcelona players have been nominated for the Onze d’Or, the prize given annually by the French magazine ‘Onze Mondial’ to the eleven best players in the world, one for each position. They are Valdés, Alves, Puyol, Piqué, Abidal, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc, Alexis and Messi, who all feature in the list of 60 names that fans have until June 7 to choose from by heading to the following website.
Barça dominate
With eleven nominees, FC Barcelona is the most represented team and the only one with at least one player for each position. Also, Guardiola has been nominated as one of the managers of the season. Apart from the Onze d’Or, the three best players of the season are also selected, who are awarded the Onze d’Or, Onze d’Argent and Onze de Bronze respectively. For the last three years, the top award has gone to FCB’s Leo Messi.
