No fewer than 12 of the 21 footballers used this season by FC Barcelona were home produced, and they scored 79% of the team’s 190 goals in official matches. That’s a total of 150. La Masia has never played such a massive role in Barça goalscoring, in a season when the Club also broke its all-time record for goals.

Messi on another planet

Leo Messi was unquestionably the main reason for that. Never before has somebody scored 73 times in a season, and 50 of those were scored in La Liga, enough to win him his second Ballon d’Or. The Argentinian is joined at the top of the rankling by other former youth players like Cesc (15), Xavi (14) and Pedro (13).

This year’s goal count also included some from players still officially on the Barça B books, namely Tello (7), Sergi Roberto (2) and Montoya (1).
