Cesc and Alexis, the two Barça signings for the 2011/12 season, have scored 15 goals each in their first season at the club, and it looks like we have yet to see the best of either of them
They say the first year is always the hardest and that adaptation takes time, even though Cesc had the advantage of having played in the Barça youth system. Cesc and Alexis have both scored 15 goals in their first year at the club, and played an active role in FC Barcelona’s conquest of four major titles this year: the Spanish and European Supercups, the Clubs World Cup and the Copa del Rey.
Cesc has made 49 official appearances and scored 15 goals, nine in La Liga, one in the Champions League, three in the Copa del Rey, one in the European Supercup and one in the Clubs World Cup Final against Santos. Cesc himself told a recent press conference that “it’s a long time since I played so many matches” and claims he will be better next season once the different moves have become second nature to him.
Alexis has broken his personal goalscoring record set at Udinese. The Chilean has played in 41 matches and has also scored 15 goals: 12 in La Liga, two in the Champions League and one in the Copa del Rey. Muscle injuries have prevented him from playing even more, but Alexis has shown just what he can offer to the Barça attack. Like with Cesc, his role at the club should be fully consolidated in the 2012/13 season.
