The forward, who made his debut in the EURO this Saturday, showed that he’s on the same form that allowed him to score a brace in the Copa del Rey Final
He’s the seventh Azulgrana to feature in the Poland and Ukraine EURO
Up until yesterday he hadn’t featured in the EURO. However, on the the first chance he was given, Pedro Rodríguez made sure he showed his manager that he’s on form. On the 63rd minute of the Spain-France match, coming on for Silva, he took up his position as the left forward. From the wing, he brought depth to Spain’s game just when Vicente del Bosque’s men looked to running out of gas.
In stoppage time Pedro won a penalty which led to the definitive 2-0, scored by Xabi Alonso. The Barça man darted into the French area after skipping away from Rami, Reveille had little option but to bring Pedro down in the box.
With Pedro, seven FC Barcelona players have participated in the EURO. The only Azulgrana yet to make his debut in the EURO is Valdés.
Maintaining his form
After a season marked by injuries, Pedro managed to get back to his best form at the end of the season. Four of the five goals that he scored in the Liga were netted in the last eight Liga games of the season. His performances earned him a place in the starting line up against Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey Final. At the Calderón, like in all of Barça’s important fixtures, Pedro stepped up to the plate. A brace from the Spaniard and a goal from Messi were enough to secure the trophy for the Azulgranas.
