On Sunday, one homeless person died on La Paz Street in the capital’s downtown area and another one died some five blocks from the government palace of La Moneda.
The second victim was a 50-year-old man found lying under a tree in a makeshift shelter.
Both victims are presumed to have been homeless people who succumbed to hypothermia.
The temperature this winter in the South American country dropped to -8C.
More than 12,000 Chileans are homeless with 765 minors among them, according to official figures.
The Chilean government has opened 73 temporary shelters around the country and established a toll-free number for the public to alert shelter centers of the homeless’ location.
