Ali Jalilian, a member of Majlis Legal and Judicial Committee, noted on Saturday that the US and Israel use sanctions and assassinations to counter Iran’s nuclear program, stressing that Tehran should take legal action against them.
“Nuclear terrorism has been designed by the US and the Zionist regime (of Israel) and can endanger the global security,” he added.
Since 2009, five Iranian nuclear scientists have become the target of terrorist attacks, which have killed four of them.
Iran has also been under illegal US and EU sanctions over its nuclear energy program, which aim to prevent countries from buying Iranian oil or doing transaction with its central bank.
The lawmaker emphasized that the West has found no negative point with regard to Iran’s nuclear energy program.
“The US wants to deprive Iran of nuclear knowledge and pursues no other goals because they know that Iran has no plan to build nuclear bomb,” he added.
Stressing that the Western sanctions against Iran are based on false claims, Jalilian said “the embargoes enforced by the US and certain Western countries against Iran lack legal basis” and the Islamic Republic can take legal action against them in international bodies.
The US, Israel and some of their allies accuse Iran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program.
Tehran refutes the allegation saying that as a committed signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it is entitled to peaceful applications of nuclear energy.
