The survey conducted by the French global market research company, Ipsos, between December 10 and 12,indicates that only 12 percent of Britons are optimistic about UK’s economic prospect in 2012.
Twenty-five percent of the respondents predicted an unchanging trend for the economy while 3 percent expressed no opinion on the matter.
The study highlights the UK public’s growing pessimism towards their economy, as a previous Ipsos survey indicated that a lower rate of 57 percent of the British foresaw a sluggish economy for 2011.
UK, Europe’s third largest economy and world’s seventh economy, has been grappling with an economic downturn since the eruption of global financial crisis in January 2009.
Economic observers believe that UK’s current economic crisis is the country’s worst financial downturn since the World War II.
