A number of people have been injured in an attack on a mosque in Dagestan, a republic of the Russian Federation located in the Caucasus.

Two masked gunmen attacked a Shia mosque in the town of Khasavyurt on Saturday evening as Muslims celebrated the end of Ramadan, the regional interior ministry said in a statement.

“The number of wounded in the shooting at the mosque has risen to eight,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, local police officials said more people were injured later in a bomb attack on the mosque.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks so far.
