IAEA, Iran to hold new talks in Vienna - Gayo Lues
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the IAEA announced that the meeting will be held in Vienna on August 24 for “further discussions on a structured approach to resolve outstanding issues” concerning Iran’s nuclear energy program, AFP reported.
IAEA’s delegation will be led by chief inspector Herman Nackaerts and Assistant Director General for Political Affairs Rafael Grossi, the statement added.
The United States, Israel, and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear energy program and have used the false charge as a pretext to push for the imposition of sanctions on the country and to call for an attack on the country.
Iran argues that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the IAEA, it has the right to develop and acquire nuclear technology meant for peaceful purposes.
And the IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence showing that Iran’s civilian nuclear program has been diverted to nuclear weapons production.
