Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says he will expound Tehran’s stances on the global problems during his speech at the 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

“During this speech I will explain the Islamic Republic of Iran‘s stances on global issues and problems that we are currently witnessing in the international arena and will offer solutions to them,” Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday.

It will be Ahmadinejad’s eighth and last trip to New York for a UN General Assembly session since he first became president back in 2005.

The Iranian president said he will hold bilateral meetings with officials attending the session and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to reiterate the importance of expanding bilateral relations.

The trip comes as Iran has recently assumed the rotating presidency of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) for the next three years.

“We will have special meetings and sessions as the head of NAM and those meetings will be about promoting and changing the structures of the movement and we will also discuss certain problems in some regions [of the world],” Ahmadinejad added.

NAM, an international organization with 120 member states, is considered as not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc. It represents nearly two-thirds of the UN members.

The 67th Session of the UN General Assembly opened on September 18, 2012, and will run through December 31.
