Large shops and supermarkets were looted during the clashes and riots on Friday.
Meanwhile, the authorities have dispatched around 2,000 army soldiers and a group of elite federal police officers to contain the demonstrations in the country’s third largest city. In addition, protesters have been warned that they will receive a fine of up to $ 46,000 if caught demonstrating.
Another 13 people were killed during a demonstration on Thursday, while seven deaths were recorded on Wednesday.
The protesting police officers are holding demonstrations to demand salary increases and better working conditions.
