Speaking at a morning ceremony in Tehran on Sunday, Deputy Commander of the Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Gholam-Reza Khadem Bigham described Iran’s Navy as a force competent enough to safeguard national and regional security.
Rear Admiral Khadem Bigham stressed that the Iranian naval force, given its abundant capabilities, has been successful in its previous missions, and will hopefully succeed in accomplishing future tasks and commitments.
He pointed out that the Iranian naval force is fully prepared to safeguard the country’s maritime borders, and will never allow the enemies violate Iran’s sovereignty.
Rear Admiral Khadem Bigham pointed to the Velayat 90 naval drills and said all the envisioned goals and objectives had been achieved during the exercise.
On January 2, the Iranian Navy wrapped up Velayat 90 maritime war games, launched on December 24, 2011. The naval drills were conducted in an area stretching from the east of the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Aden.
The drills had four stages, namely the preparedness, expansion of forces, tactical, and power phases, which were carried out successfully.
The military drills took place in line with a directive by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, instructing Iranian armed forces to maintain total readiness to defend the nation against any potential threats.
